Abstract

The paper presents the results of temporary changes in the coordinates of the measuring point according to GPS station data and variations in the kinematic and dynamic parameters of seismic waves obtained at the unique scientific installation Mid-latitude complex of geophysical observations «Mikhnevo». It is shown that there is a similarity in the behavior of these parameters in the period 2016–2022. A clearly defined annual periodicity of changes in station coordinates and dynamic parameters has been established variations in the logarithm of the ratio of the maximum amplitudes of transverse and longitudinal waves Lg(ASmax/APmax).

ELECTRODYNAMIC PROCESSES IN GEOSPHERES

Abstract

Instrumental observations of the level of the infrasound background in the frequency band of 1–20 Hz from working equipment during the export of ore from the Lebedinsky and Stoilensky quarries are described. More than 130 units of basic mining equipment operate in the quarries every day, which are a source of intense infrasound vibrations. The measurements were carried out between June and October 2022 and 2023. The conducted studies have shown that an increase in the number of mass explosions in 2023 and, as a result, the intensification of ore export, led to an increase in the infrasound background by 4–9 dB compared to 2022. However, its value does not exceed the maximum permissible levels for residential areas of 75–90 dB.

CATASTROPHIC NATURAL EVENTS AND FALLS OF SPACE BODIES

Abstract

The frequency of the fundamental mode F of the Earth’s natural oscillations 0S2, identified in the spectra of geomagnetic variations at the Mikhnevo observatory of the IDG RAS, during strong earthquakes is analyzed. It is shown that the value of F takes different values depending on the date of the event, and the values of F are higher during periods characterized by a decrease in the Earth’s rotation rate, and lower during periods of its increase. Based on the results of a comparative analysis of the results of magnetic measurements and the data of the IERS open access catalog, an empirical relationship was obtained between the variations in F and the Earth’s rotation rate.

Abstract

In recent years the global trend in seismological observations consists in increasing the number of measuring points and equipping them with broadband and highly sensitive sensors. However, this approach leads to a significant rise in the cost of measurements. One possible solution to this problem is the use of much cheaper geophones or short-period seismometers with an extended frequency range as additional sensors. This paper discusses the process of synthesizing a correction filter circuit based on a biquadratic transfer function, and provides schemes for expanding the frequency characteristics of sensors, including circuits for correcting the characteristics of the SM-3KV seismometer and the GS-20DX geophone in instrument design. The developed algorithm makes it possible to expand the frequency response of the SM-3KV seismometer to low frequencies region up to 0.02 Hz (natural frequency of 0.5 Hz) and the GS-20DX geophone to 1 Hz (natural frequency of 10 Hz).

Abstract

In order to determine the impact of large urban agglomerations on the habitat, the Moscow Geophysical Monitoring Center has been operating at the IDG RAS since 2014, where instrumental observations of geophysical fields and meteorological characteristics of the surface atmosphere are systematically carried out. Taking into account the emergence of new tasks, as well as the need to expand the technical capabilities of the Center in 2022, its modernization was carried out: the list of recording tools was expanded and the methods of observation and data analysis were updated. The data obtained at the Center allow us to assess the relationship between the energy parameters of the surface layer of the atmosphere with disturbances of geophysical fields of natural and man-made origin and the level of atmospheric pollution by fine particles.

EXTREME ATMOSPHERIC IMPACT

Abstract

Calculation experiments were carried out that revealed signs of the influence of tropical cyclones on seismicity in the zone of tropical cyclone action. The calculations are based on long-term data of tropical cyclones and earthquakes in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. The research results seem to be of some interest in the general direction of research into the interaction of geospheres.
